Automotive Battery Warranty

These battery products are warranted by UKB (UK Batteries Ltd) for the agreed period as from date of sale, to be free of defect in material and workmanship.

In the event of any defect in material and/or workmanship arising within the agreed period, UKB (UK Batteries Ltd) always undertakes in its sole discretion subject to the following conditions to repair the defect or replace the battery at its own cost and without charge to the purchaser:

  1. Any claim in terms of this warranty must be made as soon as the purchaser becomes aware of the defect;
  2. The purchaser must return the defective battery to UKB (UK Batteries Ltd) or its duly authorised distributors / franchisers;
  3. The purchaser must exhibit satisfactory proof of purchase of the battery from UKB (UK Batteries Ltd) or its duly authorised distributors / franchisers.

The warranty on the repaired or replaced battery will extend from the original date of sale of the defective battery.

This warranty shall not apply where this battery is used in a vehicle whose specifications requires a battery of a different size / ampere hour capacity to this battery or where this battery is fitted below the suggested ampere hour capacity (at the 20 hour rate) as specified in our official battery selection guide or, in the case of original equipment installed by a vehicle manufacturer, not according to their officially specified capacity or where this battery is damaged due to

  • negligence;
  • improper use / application;
  • abuse;
  • incorrect over or under charging, whether due to a faulty electrical system or charging apparatus;
  • the use of battery acid or additives;
  • excessive / abnormal wear and tear;
  • use in a vehicle fitted with additional or non-standard electrical extras;

This warranty shall, further, not apply to our range of leisure use batteries or automotive batteries, which are specifically manufactured for recreational and/or outdoor use. No liability whatsoever will be accepted by UKB (UK Batteries Ltd) or its duly appointed distributors / franchisers for any damage or losses howsoever caused and of whatsoever nature whether in contract and/or indirect, direct, consequential or otherwise as sustained by the purchaser or any other person resulting from the failure or defect of this battery.

 

Leisure Battery Warranty

These battery products are warranted by UKB (UK Batteries Ltd) group of companies for the agreed period as from date of sale, to be free of defect in material and workmanship. In the event of any defect in material and/or workmanship arising within the agreed period, UKB (UK Batteries Ltd) always undertakes in its sole discretion subject to the following conditions to repair the defect or replace the battery at its own cost and without charge to the purchaser:

  1. Any claim in terms of this warranty must be made as soon as the purchaser becomes aware of the defect;
  2. The purchaser must return the defective battery to UKB (UK Batteries Ltd) or its duly authorised distributors / franchisers;
  3. The purchaser must exhibit satisfactory proof of purchase of the battery from UKB (UK Batteries Ltd) or its duly authorised distributors / franchisers.

The warranty on the repaired or replaced battery will extend from the original date of sale of the defective battery.

This warranty shall not apply in instances of damage attributable to negligence or improper use or treatment, abuse, over or undercharging, the use of battery acid or additives, excessive or abnormal wear and tear, or damage caused by accident.

This is the only warranty given by the manufacturer and no liability will be accepted for any other damages and losses, whether direct, consequential or otherwise, resulting from neglect or abuse of the battery.

 

Guarantee

Platinum batteries sold as replacement are guaranteed against failure due to faulty manufacture or materials. In the event of such a failure, the battery will be credited at the original purchase price.

The guarantee periods are as follows:

 

Cars & Light Vans
Prestige - 4 Years*
Energy - 3 Years*

 

Commercial
Xtreme - 2 Years*

* For starting applications only

 

Lifestyle Leisure - 2 Years

 

Important - Exceptions
The guarantee is reduced on starting battery types (car, light van & commercial) used for the following applications:

  • Taxi cabs 1 Year
  • Ambulances 1 Year
  • Police cars 1 Year
  • Fire engines 1 Year
  • Cyclic applications * 6 Months

* e.g. trailers & caravans, boats, lawnmowers, wheelchairs, golf trolleys & buggies, emergency lighting, etc.

 

The guarantee does not cover:

  • Failure resulting from wear and tear, misuse and negligence, either before or during use e.g. overcharged, cycled, sulphated or undercharged.
  • Failure resulting from the use of any fluids other than distilled or deionised water.
  • Use of a battery on a vehicle or unit for which it is not recommended or on which it has been installed and commissioned incorrectly.
  • Failure or deterioration resulting from the malfunction of any charging system.

The guarantee cannot be transferred, and only applies to the original user of the battery.

The guarantee commences from the date of purchase.

The guarantee does not effect the statutory rights of the consumer in any way.

No guarantee claim will be actioned without a dated proof of purchase.

Labour claims can only be accepted in the event of a proven liability.
